Bachpan ka December guides us not to be an obstacle on anyone’s happiness

“A room without books is a body
Without a soul”.

Reading books refreshes our minds and soul. It is a very useful habit which increases our knowledge and gives us a lot of information about the growing world. As it is nicely said “Books are our everlasting friends”, because whenever we feel sad or feel alone, they give us a beautiful company.

The book ‘Bachpan Ka December’ is a similar book that gives a taste of joy to the readers. The book is authored by Hashim Nadeem. He is a great writer in Pakistan. He has been writing heart touching books for his readers and contributed a great amount of novels by now. This book is one of his most interesting collectionws I have ever come up with. It teaches us a great lesson.

It is simply based on a story of a boy named Hadi and a 16 year-old girl Wajiha. They were neighbors but were backed from different front statuses. Wajiha was the daughter of a rich father whereas Hadi was poor. She liked Hadi very much and always cared for him: same as with Hadi who always wanted to get involved in activities which made Wajiha happy. He always did all her work.

Wajiha was an bookworm and always suggested Hadi to read, but he never found interest towards reading. That’s why his father decided to send him in an army school. Hearing to his father’s ‘unliked’ decision, he cried a lot. He also thought about Wajiha that after him who would take care of her, but his father did not listen to him and thus he was sent to the army school.

When he reached there, Hadi remained the same as he had been. He only thought about Wajiha. When the head of the school saw that Hadi did not not have any interest towards studies, he sent him to a woman in the neighborhood. The woman played with him, took care of him and also taught him. Due to her Hadi gained interest in studies.

After some years when Hadi came to know that Wajiha got married but her husband was too greedy and cruel, he felt upset. He was planning to come back to the place where they were together. He intended for the sole purpose of his arrival to do something and free Wajiha from that cruel person.

Some years went and Hadi became an army officer. When he came back, he got to know that Wajiha got divorced from that man. He still loved Wajiha a lot and wanted to marry her. So, he sent his proposal to Wajiha. They (his family) wanted to stop him because Wajiha was elder than him, but he was not ready to agree with them. At the same time another person sent his proposal for Wajiha too.

Wajiha came to Hadi and told him
about everything and wanted to know his decision. Hadi saw that she was more satisfied with that proposal than of his. As a result, he allowed her to accept that proposal: and she got married with that person.

From this book I learnt that sometimes for others’ happiness we have to compromise with ours, like hadi did. So, it is a request that everyone should read this book if they always want to be happy. And never ever be an hindrance on the way of anyone’s happiness because everyone deserves to be happy.

The writer is a student at Dynamic English Language Teaching Academy (DELTA). She is based in Turbat.
